A firefighter is recovering after getting hurt while responding to a scene.

Officials won't say how he was hurt or what injuries he suffered. Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel would only say he visited him in the hospital tonight and he's doing well.

The fire happened at a series of joined vacant buildings at 55th and Haverford Avenue in West Philly.

The call came in after 8 o'clock and was placed under control an hour later.

Firefighters arrived to flames and heavy smoke.

The cause is still under investigation.

License and Inspections is expected to be on scene tomorrow.

Crews were able to get the fire under control just after 9:15 p.m.
