Will the Eagles go to the White House after Super Bowl victory?

The Philadelphia Eagles have claimed the title of 2025 Super Bowl Champions, which typically comes with a trip to the White House.

However, the team's controversial history with President Donald Trump could break tradition once again.

The backstory:

The Eagles first trip to the White House was ultimately canceled after head coach Doug Pederson and quarterback Nick Foles led the team to victory against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in 2018.

Several players and team leaders decided not to attend, leaving just two players actually planning to make the trip to Washington.

Trump then rescinded his invitation, tying the dispute to his criticism of players who kneeled during the national anthem:

"The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow. They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country," the president said in a statement at the time.

What we know:

The Eagles are the first professional sports team to win a championship during Trump's second term as president.

Which teams have visited Trump?

Several major professional and college teams made trips to the White House during Trump's first four years in office, including the Patriots, Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Houston Astros and Washington Capitals.

What we don't know:

Neither Trump, nor the Eagles, have released any official statement regarding a possible invitation to the White House to celebrate the Super Bowl victory.
