Wilmington honors three firefighters lost in the line of duty last year
A special ceremony took place in Wilmington on Monday honoring three firefighters who lost their lives a year ago.
Captain Christopher Leach, Lieutenant Jerry Fickes Jr. and Lieutenant Ardythe Hope died battling a house fire.
In their memory, Wilmington's mayor has declared September 24 a Day of Remembrance throughout the city. Three bronze plaques were also unveiled.
They will be at the three fire stations where the firefighters were assigned.
