Woman flips car after being shot by ex-boyfriend in Philadelphia: police
PHILADELPHIA - Investigators say a woman flipped her car after being shot in the leg by her ex-boyfriend Thursday night in Philadelphia.
Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 300 block of Upsal Street around 11:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting and crash.
Police arrived to find a Buick flipped onto its side with a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg trapped inside.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that first responders used a saw to cut the roof off the vehicle and free the woman. She was brought to Albert Einstein Medical Center and placed in stable condition.
Investigators believe the woman was sitting inside a parked Buick when her ex-boyfriend fired at least two shots from another car. After being hit in the right leg, police believe she tried to flee and struck another parked car, causing her vehicle to flip onto its side.
The suspect, described as a 39-year-old man, fled the scene in what police described as a white sedan.
Small said hours before the shooting, police were called to a nearby property for a domestic incident involving the same two people.
Anyone with information about the shooting or the suspect's whereabouts is urged to contact Philadelphia police.
