Woman shot dead in Wissinoming apartment, 2 men apprehended

Philadelphia police are investigating the shooting death of a woman in the city's Wissinoming neighborhood early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the 5900 block of Keystone Street around 3:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting inside a building.

When officers arrived on the scene they found two men climbing down from the roof of a three-story home, which is split into separate apartments. Those two men were taken into custody and were being interviewed by homicide detectives.

Inisde, the officers found a woman in her mid-20s on the floor of the third-floor apartment suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced dead a short time after emergency crews arrived. She has not yet been identified.

Police have not yet recovered a firearm and had called in a K9 to search for evidence. One of the men who was apprehended is believed to be a tenant in the apartment where the woman was found, according to police.
