PHILADELPHIA - One person is dead, and another five injured, after two cars collided in Philadelphia's Mayfair section early Monday morning.
Officials say a wrong-way crash unfolded when two vehicles sped onto the 2700 block of Levick Street around 2:40 a.m. One car wrapped around a pole, while the other smashed into its rear.
Six people, ages 19-23, were transported to local hospitals. One victim, identified as 21-year-old Steven Thompson, was pronounced dead.

Five other people are said to be injured, including a 20-year-old man said to be in critical condition.
The deadly crash is under investigation.
