GILFORD, N.H. (FOX 13) - A New Hampshire father is warning others of the dangers of distracted driving after his son was nearly hit by a car.
David Cota-Robles' son, who is seven years old, was waiting for the school bus near his Gilford home, along with his sibling. David shared surveillance video showing the children's school bus stop across the street, with its stop signs and lights visible.
The 7-year-old was about to cross the street, when a driver sped past the stopped bus. David's son is seen taking a step back and places his arms up.
"I have been torn for the last few days over posting this or not…school is back in session and school bus safety should be one of our number one priorities," David wrote on his Facebook page. "Please share this and make others aware of the dangers of careless or distracted drivers. My son was almost seriously hurt when this driver did not stop for the busses flashing lights. Thank you."
David said police are aware and have been searching for the driver. The incident occurred on the morning of August 31.
