PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - A group of Philadelphia Phillies fans are hoping to make themselves heard at Nationals Stadium during Bryce Harper's first game there as a Phillie.
A group known as "Phans of Philly" organized plans to bring busloads of Phillies fans down I-95 to Washington D.C. Tuesday night.
The group gathered outside Lincoln Financial Field at 11 a.m. Tuesday, where they began boarding the busses.
According to the group's website, Phans of Philly has been organizing trips and travel plans for all Philadelphia sports teams for more than 10 years.
While Harper thanked D.C. in an Instagram post Tuesday morning, the right fielder said he does expect to hear "some boos" along with some cheers. As it turns out, some of those cheers may be coming from the hundreds of Phillies fans expected to be in attendance.
Harper was the No. 1 pick by the Nationals in the 2010 draft and played with them through the 2018 season. He signed a 13-year, $330-million contract with Philadelphia in February.
