PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - The Philadelphia Eagles have officially re-signed a familiar face in wide receiver Jordan Matthews, according to the team's website.
Wide receiver Mike Wallace was placed on Injured Reserve in a corresponding move that opened up a roster spot for Matthews.
Matthews was reportedly spotted at the Eagles facility on Tuesday, a day after the news came that Wallace had fractured his fibula in Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Matthews was a member of the Eagles in Carson Wentz's first season as the team's starting quarterback, but was traded to the Buffalo Bills for cornerback Ronald Darby before last season.
This offseason, Matthews signed with the New England Patriots before suffering a hamstring injury in training camp and later being released.
According to multiple reports, Matthews could suit up for Sunday's 1 p.m. game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Yesterday, the Eagles also signed undrafted free agent running back Josh Adams to the active roster, and released wide receiver Deandre Carter.
