Eagles vs. Commanders: Birds fans in South Philly react to devastating game loss

The energy was high at Chickie’s & Pete's in South Philly Sunday afternoon with the Eagles looking late into the fourth quarter like they would get it done. However, in a matter of minutes with ten seconds left, and no time out, there was instant disappointment.

"No!" screamed a fan as he put his head down on the table.

The Commanders defied the odds by delivering a big blow to the Eagles and fans.

Jayden Daniels threw his fifth touchdown pass of the game with 6 seconds left to give the Washington Commanders a 36-33 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

"That was a crazy game. I do not how it happened. They really got us good and I am upset," said Monty G. who is a longtime fan.

LaNika Lucas was also upset and refused a playful kiss from her significant other.

"We came up here because she's an Eagles fan and it's her birthday. So I wanted her to feel how it feels to be a true Eagles fan in their hometown," said Ian Giles. Lucas is an Eagles fan but he is a Commanders fan.

"I am. A die-hard from birth," said Giles. They live in Montgomery County, Maryland. The car ride back is gonna be a tough one.

"I'm loving it. We are gonna have some fun," said Giles teasing Lucas who did not get the birthday game ending she was expecting.

"I feel like if Jalen didn't get concussed I feel like we would have pulled it out. Smitty dropped that pass. That was major. We needed that too to convert to a first down," said Lucas.

Fans feared Hurts not returning to the game after suffering a concussion in the first half was a sign of what was to come.

"We didn't have Mr. Ja-Win Hurts out there. Mr. Ja-Win," joked Richie Allen.

Jalen Hurts ruled out of Eagles, Commanders game with concussion

Jalen Hurts has been ruled out of the Philadelphia Eagles' game at the Washington Commanders with a concussion.

"It ruined the game but Kenny Pickett he did some stuff and put points on the board, so I can't really be mad about it," said Steve Pucylol of Levittown who watched the game at Chickie’s & Pete’s.

Many fans felt the backup quarterback showed up.

"I thought he played decent. I thought he played good. But the defense let us down a little bit," said Ron Hood of South Philly.

"The first half we killed it. The second half we lost it all. If we do not play the first half good then second half, that is when we come back. So we gotta figure something out," said Pucylol.

Meanwhile, one little Eagles fan is keeping the faith.

"The Eagles are the best team in the world," said the kid.
