VOORHEES, N.J. (FOX 29) - With a win streak under their belt, and the season seeming brought back to life, the Philadelphia Flyers took some time after practice Wednesday to give back to the community.
After practice Wednesday, the team hosted an incredible group of kids from the Overbrook School for the Blind at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees.
Each player took time to help the kids skate and learn the game of hockey.
"It's really cool, you know? I think it really gives you perspective, you know, when you see what other people are going through," Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds explained, "For them to persevere and come out and do what they love to do, it's awesome just to be a part of it for a day."
In the midst of their regular season, the Flyers were able to step back from the games at hand and appreciate the everyday challenges these students overcome.
"We live a privileged life. We're professional athletes and sometimes you don't really understand what other people are going through," Simmonds added.
