Phillies to honor retiring Shane Victorino Friday
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A decade after the Philadelphia Phillies were crowned World Series Champions, a long-time fan favorite will be honored at Citizens Bank Park as he retires from baseball.
"The Flyin' Hawaiian, Shane Victorino will be retiring as a Phillie Friday night as part of the Toyota Phillies Alumni Weekend.
Fans will be saying 'mahalo' to Victorino who announced his retirement earlier this year. Victorino was an integral part of the 2008 championship team.
Victorino will be honored ahead of Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against the Miami Marlins and will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
The two-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove Award recipient spent eight seasons with the Phillies.
