Phillies trade SS Freddy Galvis to Padres

The Philadelphia Phillies have traded veteran shortstop Freddy Galvis to the San Diego Padres in exchange for a pitching prospect, the team announced Friday.

In return for Galvis, the Phillies will receive right-handed pitcher Enyel De Los Santos, who made 24 starts in 2017 for double-A San Antonio and went 10-6 with a 3.78 ERA.

De Los Santos is currently ranked as the Padres' 13th-best prospect according to MLB.com.

Galvis, who spent 12 years in the Phillies organization after being signed as a 16-year-old amateur free agent in 2006, played in a total of 642 games for the Phillies over the last six seasons.

Galvis played in all 162 games for the Phillies in 2017.
