Report: Eagles give Chris Long a raise
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - The Eagles are rewarding one of their veterans this offseason after he opted to donate all of his regular season game checks to charity last season.
According to an ESPN report, the Eagles have restructured defensive end Chris Long's contract guaranteeing him $3 million next season. ESPN's Field Yates reports that Long's base salary jumped to $2.5 million guaranteed.
Long made plenty of plays on the field in his first year with the team, and his work away from the game will leave a lasting impression.
For his off the field work, Long was announced as the recipient of the NFL Players Association's 2018 Byron "Whizzer" White Community MVP Award last week. The NFL made a $100,000 contribution to The Chris Long Foundation as part of his award.

Long donated all 16 of his regular season game checks to charity to benefit educational equality and social justice reform. Long's first six game checks went to funding a scholarship program at St. Anne's-Belfield School, where he attended high school in Charlottesville, Virginia.
"I am just one of many players this season using our platform to impact the world as proven by the work of the other finalists and my teammates. I hope my efforts and the work of other players continues to inspire fans to take action and be difference makers in their communities," Long said after winning the award.
