South Philly store's t-shirt worn by Bryce Harper on Opening Day is a hot sell
PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - A shirt designed by a South Philadelphia company is selling fast after Bryce Harper wore it as he walked into Citizens Bank Park on Opening Day.
Johnny Zito and Tony Trov, the owners of South Fellini on Passyunk Avenue, say Harper "slid into their DMs" on Instagram and said, "it would be cool to wear one of their t-shirts."
After a little discussion, they say Harper picked the now famous shirt, which shows the Phillie Phanatic and Gritty recreating a famous pose from the movie "Pulp Fiction."
Thursday morning, the Phillies tweeted a photo of Harper walking into the stadium with the shirt on. Since that photo was posted, Zito and Trov say they've sold more than 1,000 of the shirts, which are named "Phan Fiction."
Due to the boost in sales, the store says they still have some smaller sizes available, but the shirts will soon be re-stocked.
Zito and Trov stopped by Good Day Philadelphia Friday morning to talk more about how Harper ended up in their shirt.
South Fellini Tee Shirts & Enamel Pins is located at 1507 East Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia. You can also find their gear on Etsy.
