Disney suspends pay for 100,000 employees: report

Walt Disney Co. will stop paying more than 100,000 employees this week, nearly half of its workforce, as the world's biggest entertainment company tries to weather the coronavirus lockdown, it was reported Monday.

For Walt Disney World, this will be the longest closure in its history

Rarely, Walt Disney World will close, but the major theme park's hand was forced as government and health officials advised against large mass gatherings. The decision to shut down the park -- beginning on Sunday, March 15 -- is an effort to slow down the spread of the coronavirus.
