Weather Authority: Wednesday morning forecast
Rainy, windy Wednesday before temperatures start to drop for the rest of the week.
PHILADELPHIA - The Delaware Valley is in for a wet and windy Wednesday with two inches of rain or more expected in parts of the area.
Periods of light rain were forecast for the morning hours, before heavier rain and gusting winds move in early in the afternoon.
Expect hazardous conditions to be a part of your afternoon commute as a line of heavier showers and possible thunderstorms moves through the area.
Coastal New Jersey and Delaware are under the biggest threat of damaging winds.
By the time the rain tapers off, rainfall totals are expected to end up right around two inches or more. Higher amounts are possible along the coast, and to the north and west of Philadelphia.
With how dry conditions have been over the last few months, urban flooding and flooding as a result of poor drainage are possible.
Wednesday will be warmer with a high of 60 degrees. However, Wednesday’s rain is the result of a low pressure system moving across the area, as well as an approaching cold front that will puh offshore later tonight.
The air will be much colder and drier once that front pushes offshore. Expect temperatures to plummet into the 30s overnight. Parts of the Poconos could even see low temperatures dip below freezing.
Come Thursday morning, don’t expect much of a warm-up, as high temperatures will struggle to make it out of the 30s. Conditions will remain blustery as well.
Friday will be sunnier, but still cold with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.
By Saturday, we’re back in the 40s, before showers and 50 degree temperatures are expected to return on Sunday.
