PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (AP/WTXF) - Philadelphia schools are closing early in an attempt to head-off an incoming storm that's expected to coat the much of the region's roads with ice and snow, creating hazardous travel conditions.
A Philadelphia school district spokesman says students will be dismissed at 1 p.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. The agency warns of slippery roads as freezing rain, sleet and snow are expected in much of eastern Pennsylvania as well as parts of New Jersey and Maryland.
Precipitation has started in the western part of Pennsylvania and some schools there have closed for the day or delayed opening.
The incoming weather is expected to hit days after a storm brought snow and bone-chilling temperatures to the East Coast.
