1 man dead, another injured after shooting in Roxborough
ROXBOROUGH (AP/WTXF) - Police are investigating after a double shooting in Roxborough that left one man dead and another injured late Monday night.
A typically safe neighborhood in the city was met with violence around 10:35 p.m. Monday night when officers responded to the 7700 block of Matthias Street. Officials say a 32-year-old man was shot in the head inside his pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another 28-year-old man who was a passenger in the vehicle was found across the street with wounds to his arm and leg. According to an eye witness, he banged on the door of a corner home seeking help before he was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center. He is listed in stable condition.
Philadelphia Police Captain John Ryan said, "Whomever they were meeting with opened fire from the driver's side window killing the driver and severely injuring the passenger."
The shooter fled the scene in a vehicle and remains at large.
