Biden campaigning and voting, but not running

Pennsylvania-born, Delaware resident Joe Biden isn't running for any office this year, despite all the campaigning he has done for the Democratic ticket.

He spent the past eight years as President Obama's vice president and represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate for 36 years before that.

FOX 29 found Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden voting, Tuesday morning, at A.I. du Pont High School in Wilmington.

Also, the Biden family is getting an honor down in Houston.

MD Anderson Cancer Center is creating an endowed chair in recognition of Biden's late son Beau, a former patient at the hospital who died of glioblastoma, the most common brain tumor type, in May 2015 at age 46. The tragedy caused Biden to decide against running for president this year.

Hospital officials tell the Houston Chronicle they plan to hire a distinguished neuro-oncologist for the Beau Biden Chair for Brain Cancer Research, which will be formally announced at a gala dinner Thursday celebrating MD Anderson's 75th anniversary.

MD Anderson provost Dr. Ethan Dmitrovsky says the new position will "address an unmet medical need to develop advances in brain cancer biology and therapy."

Dmitrovsky says a recipient of the Biden Chair should be identified in the next few months.
