D.C lawyer's number mistaken for free burrito hotline

Washington, DC (WTXF) - A D.C area lawyer was bombarded with dozens of texts this Monday from people who thought they were messaging Chipotle to get a free burrito.

Henry Levine received dozens of texts this Monday containing the word "raincheck". All the people messaging him were doing so in the hopes of getting a free burrito from Chipotle.

In light of a recent e. coli outbreak, Chipotle was running a promotion to gain back some of the customers that it may have lost. People could text the word "raincheck" to 888-222 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. in order to get a free burrito. Unfortunately for Levine, this number is only one two away from being his.

Levine received many texts enquiring about free Mexican food starting around nine a.m. Monday morning. When he attempted to respond and let people know they had the wrong number, he was apparently met with surprisingly unkind responses.

Luckily, Chipotle has been notified and they are sending Levine gift cards to repay him for his troubles. As for the people who mistakenly texted him, the manager of a nearby Chipotle told Levine that they would not be receiving free burritos.
