Serial bank robber arrested while exiting Bensalem bank with bag of cash: police

Marc Masich, 47, of Amherst, NY was charged with numerous felonies, including Robbery, Robbery of a Financial institution, Terroristic Threats, and related offenses. He admitted to four bank robberies and one attempted bank robbery, all in Southeaste

A 47-year-old man is facing several charges after Bensalem police say he was involved in a series of bank robberies.

At around 5 p.m. Monday, police say a robbery occurred at the TD Bank on the 2700 block of Street Road.

They say the face mask-wearing suspect handed a demand note that read, "Give me all the money in your drawer and make sure it does not have any trackers in it." The teller then activated the silent alarm and told the subject that he could not access the cash machine.

Police say the subject fled the scene in an unknown direction before the police arrived.

Just minutes later at 5:13 p.m., Bensalem police say the same man entered the Santander Bank on the 1400 block of Street Road.

They say he was still wearing the face mask, and when employees told him he had to lower it, he left the bank without incident.

Police were advised by a detective in Middletown Township that the suspect may be driving a small black Nissan sedan as they had a similar bank robbery on December 12.

At 5:21 p.m., as a Bensalem police officer was checking the parking lot of the PNC Bank at 3707 Hulmeville Road, he saw a male walking from a parked vehicle into the bank.

The officer noticed that the black Nissan sedan the male was walking away from was running and did not have a registration plate on the back.

Then, police observed a man running from the bank's front door carrying a gray/white bag.

The man was taken into custody without incident and identified as Marc Masich, 47, of Amherst, NY.

Upon further investigation, police say the PNC Bank tellers reported that they were handed a demand note similar to the one used just 20 minutes prior at TD Bank. They say the teller emptied the drawer and handed Masich approximately $4,000.

Police say Masich put the money into a white "Bank of America" bag that he had brought with him before he fled into the arms of officers outside.

Not only did Masich admit to the robbery at PNC Bank and attempted robbery at TD Bank, but he also revealed that he was going to rob the Santander Bank, but he got scared and left the bank when employees told him to take his mask off.

Police say Masich also admitted to three other bank robberies using the same demand note over the last month at the Santander Bank in Langhorne, PA, the Santander Bank in North Wales, PA, and the Truist Bank in Newtown Square, PA.

Masich was charged with numerous felonies, including Robbery, Robbery of a Financial institution, Terroristic Threats, and related offenses.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10% of $500,000 bail.

Bensalem Police are working with the FBI to determine if Masich was involved in similar bank robberies in Southeastern PA.
