Officer shot and killed during traffic stop in North Carolina
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Mooresville police are investigating after an officer was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop.
K9 Officer Jordan Sheldon, 32, was shot during the traffic stop shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, May 4 on West Plaza Drive. He was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
Police said the suspect ran away from the scene and was later found in a nearby apartment dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.
Sheldon served as an officer with the Mooresville Police Department for six years.
Local and state law enforcement are helping with the investigation.
