Partial evacuation at senior living center in South Jersey after pipe bursts
SOUTH JERSEY (WTXF) - It appears cold weather was to blame for a pipe burst at a senior living center in South Jersey Sunday night.
The water from the ceiling forced residents to evacuate the area at Brookdale Voorhees Senior Living Solutions on Laurel Oak Road.
No one was hurt, but part of the sheetrock did collapse and one firefighter suffered very minor injuries. Residents were able to move to another part of the building.
"It's a pipe that broke. Fire suppression, a sprinkler system, pipes go up in the attic. Obviously, it's very cold out. We're in an arctic blast-pipes cracked, water floods down," Voorhees Township Fire Department Jim Arpino said.
Repair crews worked into the night to fix the break.
