Person claims $14 million Texas Lottery prize two days before ticket expires

A $14 million Texas Lottery jackpot was claimed just two days before the ticket expired.

Officials said the AHSODESKA Trust of Abilene contacted the lottery on Tuesday. The ticket was set to expire on Thursday.

"On behalf of the Texas Lottery, I want to congratulate the AHSODESKA Trust on their luck and good fortune," said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery.

The winner selected the cash option and will get a one-time payment of $10 million.

The winning ticket was purchased at an HEB in Abilene for a June 17 drawing. The trust was created so the winner could maintain anonymity.

Any unclaimed lottery winnings revert back to the state and are used for programs authorized by the Texas Legislature.
