Philadelphia school closings: Delays, cancellations ahead winter snow storm
PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia-area schools have announced delays and closings as the city's highly-anticipated first measurable snowfall this winter approaches Monday.
According to the National Weather Service and FOX 29 Meteorologists, snowfall is set to begin overnight Monday, Philly is predicted to receive 2 to 4 inches of snow. Meanwhile, South Jersey and Delaware may get 4 to 6 inches, with some areas possibly seeing 6 to 10 inches.
All School District of Philadelphia schools will be closed Monday, January 6, due to the severe weather.
According to the district's website, all School District of Philadelphia schools, including the District’s Early Childhood Centers and the Constance E. Clayton Education Center (Central Office), will be closed Monday.
All after-school activities, including all athletic programs and professional development sessions, are canceled as well.
In a statement sent to FOX 29, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that the Archdiocesan high school buildings in the city will be closed and these schools will utilize a Flexible Instruction Day on Monday. The Parochial elementary schools in Philly will also close Monday. They say students and parents should refer to their local school website and look for updates from their local school administration for further details.
The City of Philadelphia’s government offices will also be closed Monday.

FOX 29's Drew Anderson says that although models show a lot of spread for snowfall amounts, what is for certain is that South Jersey and Delaware will get the most snow from this storm, while the Lehigh Valley, the Poconos, upper Bucks, Montgomery, Mercer and Monmouth counties are expected to get the least snow.
