Police: NJ man struck car with machete, shouted racial slurs in road rage incident

Authorities say a southern New Jersey man hit another motorist's vehicle with a machete and shouted racial slurs during a road rage incident.

Washington police say 29-year-old township resident Michael Roller is charged with bias intimidation, criminal mischief, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and multiple weapons offenses.

Authorities say the confrontation began around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday when Roller started throwing objects at the other driver's car. Both Roller and the other driver then pulled into a store parking lot.

Roller got out of his car and allegedly began hitting the other vehicle with a machete as he shouted the slurs. Authorities say Roller then ran into the rear yard of a nearby home where he was soon taken into custody.

It wasn't known Wednesday if Roller has retained an attorney.
