Raccoon hitches ride on police cruiser hood

A hitchhiking raccoon clearly needed a ride.

The raccoon was determined and held on while riding the hood of a police cruiser in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs police shared photos captured from inside the car showing the raccoon hanging on. They said it jumped onto the patrol car as it was heading to the scene of a crash. Luckily, for the animal, the officer pulled over and the raccoon was able to get off.

On the agency's Facebook page, they wrote, "Officer Frabbiele discovered that Raccoons do come out at night and was pawsitively surprised when one ended up on his windshield as he was enroute to a serious injury accident. He found a safe place to pull over and snapped the other two photos of the hitchhiker. #codethreecoon#raccoonridealong #hopethisroadhasbeenrepaved."
