Reading firefighter dies after motorcycle crash

READING, Pa. (WTXF) - A Reading firefighter has died after a motorcycle accident left him critically injured Friday.

Police say the accident occurred on his way to work when an SUV crashed into his motorcycle.

The firefighter's name was Erik Hirner and was a member of the Reading Fire Department for 11 years.

Officials say no funeral arrangements have been released but a GoFundMe page has been created to help Hirner's family. More than $18,000 were raised in just one day. The goal is to reach $30,000 total.
