Retired detective attends graduation of girl he saved from fire

(STORYFUL) A retired detective with Hartford Police Department in Connecticut attended the graduation ceremony of a young woman he saved from a fire that killed her uncle in 1998.

A "then and now" photo of Peter Getz and Josibelk Aponte, who was 5-years-old at the time of the fire, was shared on Twitter on May 18 by Hartford Police Department Deputy Chief Brian J Foley. Aponte graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University on May 17.
