Eagles playoffs: Fan excitement builds ahead of last game

All around the city, you can feel the energy building for the Eagles as the playoffs are quickly approaching.

"I think they are looking good. They got good momentum. I would like to see Hurts, but I think we got a good team, got a solid team," says Rob Sowell of West Philadelphia.

Clashaya Medley of Germantown says, "I’m feeling great, I’m proud, I’m happy for them, like I’m excited".

That same excitement has fans spending some money at the Eagles Pro Shop at Lincoln Financial Field.

"Just getting a bunch of pins and some decals for my car. Have to rub it into all the 49ers fans in the Bay," says Aftab Khan, of California.

Khan is on an East Coast trip to route on the Birds. After watching the team play the Commanders in DC, then the Dallas Cowboys last week, he’s looking forward to the matchup on Sunday, versus the Giants.

"I’m super-excited, I can’t wait. I kind of want to come out here for the playoffs. I’ll see if I can squeeze it in the budget but trying to make sure we finish out the season strong," says Khan.

While Khan is loading up on decals, Scott Mitchell, of Bear, Delaware, is loading up on some extra layers for what’s expected to be a cold game this Sunday.

"I only have one defensive player jersey, so I needed that. A little sweatshirt, couple of winter hats for the game this weekend. I need to be ready," says Mitchell.

One thing Eagles fans are also getting ready for is Sunday’s matchup without running back Saquon Barkley, who has decided to sit out the Week 18 matchup against his former team, despite being only 101 rushing yard away from breaking Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson‘s single-season rushing-record.

Saquon Barkley to sit Sunday vs. Giants as Eagles choose rest over rushing record

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will rest Sunday, along with a number of his teammates, instead of pursuing the NFL's single-season rushing record against his former team.

"They got to let him set the record, these records only come around once. I’ll worry about him getting hurt, but I’ve been worried about that all season. You got to let the guy get the record and then you can sit him down," says Ted Coats, of South Philly.

"I’m okay with it, they have a bigger plan in mind. They want to go to the Super Bowl," says Mitchell.

Despite many fans wanting Saquon Barkley to play, the Eagles organization says he will be resting Week 18.
