South Jersey kids make holiday cards for troops overseas

A group of children in Burlington County, New Jersey are making sure the troops have a happy holiday season.

At the Kiddie Academy in Delran, all you need is a good book to keep a group of 3-year-olds from losing focus. But this book is actually a tool to help the boys and girls understand not everyone will be home for the holidays.

The men and women serving in the military during the holidays will receive handmade cards, including some with a beautifully made rainbow from a young girl named Destiny.

"My hopes that it just puts a smile on their faces. I think knowing that they are from preschooler hopefully it is going to mean a lot to them. The kids put a lot of effort," said Faith Kuplast, Director of Education.

The goal was to make just one for a military family belonging to the school, but they kept going and reached 175.

"Some of them are just started writing and some just starting to color in the lines," said Faith Kuplast. "To know that there were kids out there that were taught about what they are doing and how important the thing they are doing is to our world."
