Watch: Unconscious newborn baby saved by NJ officer in heroic action
MIDDLE TWP., N.J. - A New Jersey police officer's quick moves helped to save the life of a newborn baby.
Bodycam footage was released depicting the heroic moment.
What we know:
During the early evening hours of November 28, 2024, Middle Township police received a frantic 9-1-1 call reporting a 1-week-old baby was unconscious and unresponsive.
Upon arrival, Ptlm. Chris Rudy located the mother attempting CPR on the infant.
Police say the baby was blue in color and cold to the touch.
Ptlm. Rudy immediately took hold of the baby from the mother and began administering life-saving measures.
After completing one round of CPR, the baby started to regain consciousness.
Shortly after, medics arrived and provided further care to the infant.
The newborn was transported to Cooper University Hospital for further examination.
