Video shows Wildwood beaches littered with trash

Wildwood, NJ (WTXF) Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to summer and normally represents an economic boom for local beach towns but a viral Facebook video has residents in Wildwood wondering if it's worth it.

The video posted on the page run by 'Watch The Tramcar Please Dot Com' shows beaches littered with trash. It sparked a heated social media discussion and a longtime resident and business person told FOX 29 there is no excuse for this behavior.

As FOX 29's Bill Anderson walked around the beach Monday there was still scattered trash but the cleanup crews clearly did a good job.

The issue isn't just troubling to year-round residents but it's an issue for vacationers as well.

"My family, their grandparents lived here all these years, and we come down every summer. But we respect it and we teach our kids that, too," one resident told FOX 29.

It's clear people are upset but some want action to the issue. Wildwood is known for free beach access.
