Wilmington police investigate shooting death of 19-year-old

On Monday, 16 October 2017, at approximately 4:20 pm, Wilmington Police were summoned to the 500 block of W. 6th Street with regard to a shooting.

Wilmington police are now investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Monday, October 16 as a homicide.

Around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 500 block of West 6 th Street. Upon the officers' arrival, they located the victim, identified as 19-year-old Dwayne Grimes of Wilmington. Grimes sustained a gunshot wound to his torso.

The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County paramedics, then was transported via ambulance to Christiana Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury.

Detectives are attempting to locate witnesses.
