Woman takes to Facebook to reunite elderly man with walking stick, wife's ashes

(WTXF/STORYFUL) -- A woman from England is taking to Facebook to reunite an elderly man with his walking stick - but that's not all. The walking stick contains the ashes of his deceased wife.

Katie Brookes posted an account of her meeting with the man to Facebook.

The two took a taxi together - Brookes offered to share the taxi as far as her home town of Kirkby, England so the man would not have to travel to his home town of "Skem" or Skelmersdale and have to pay full price.

Whilst in the taxi, the man told her that his wife has passed away and "he had her ashes put in his walking stick."

However, the man left it behind in the taxi they shared.

According to Brookes, she has tried to contact the taxi company, but with no luck.

Through the power of Facebook, Brookes is hoping that a relative of the man will see her post and the walking stick will be returned to the man.
