Crouching suspect steals from woman at gas pump
PARKLAND, Fla. (FOX 13) - The Broward County Sheriff's Office is showing how thieves can steal from people at the gas pump within seconds, without them ever knowing, until it's too late.
A theft caught on surveillance video shows a suspect pulling up to the pump across from the victim's car and waiting until she was distracted.
Then, one suspect is seen crouching down between the two vehicles, opening up the woman's driver's side door, then pulling out her handbag and fleeing. She doesn't even turn around or notice anything.
The video shows it can all happen in less than a minute.
This incident occurred at the Sun Gas Chevron in Parkland, Florida on Sept. 26. Deputies are now searching for the suspect driving a four-door Toyota Camry with dark tinted windows. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Broward County Sheriff's Office at 954-753-5050.
In the meantime, thefts like these serve as a reminder to lock your doors and to be aware of your surroundings at all times.
