Eagles acquire Jordan Howard from Chicago Bears
PHILADELPHIA (FOX 29) - Shortly after the Eagles shored up their depth at tight end by re-signing Richard Rodgers, the team made a larger move to fortify the backfield.
The Eagles announced they have acquired running back Jordan Howard from the Bears in exchange for a 6th round pick in the 2020 draft.
The 24-year-old was drafted out of the University of Indiana in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Howard rushed for over 1,100 yards in his first two seasons in the league and averaged over 70 yards per game.
His production took a slight dip in 2018, but he still managed modest numbers as a depth option for Matt Nagy as both a rusher and a receiver.
In 16 games last season, Howard amassed 935 rushing yards and 145 receiving yards.
Howard will lead an Eagles backfield that features Corey Clement, Josh Adams, Wendell Smallwood, Donnel Pumphrey and Boston Scott. Eagles had been looking to supplement their running options following the departures of Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles.
