Five dead in violent night across Philadelphia

Five people are dead in four separate incidents after a violent 12 hour period in Philadelphia.

The first incident occurred Saturday afternoon around 3:24 p.m. on the 3700 block of N. 18th Street in Tioga.

According to police, a 52-year-old female was assaulted inside a rooming house by a 54-year-old male.

The female was transported to Temple Hospital and pronounced at 3:58 p.m.

The suspect has been apprehended. The victim's identity is not available at this time.

The second incident occurred on the 300 block of East Wister Street at 6:38 p.m. Saturday in Northwest Philadelphia.

A 17-year-old male was shot once in the chest. He was transported to Einstein Medical Center by police and was pronounced at 6:58 p.m.

Another male was also shot at the location. A 29-year-old male walked into Einstein's emergency room with a gunshot wound to the right side in the rib cage area. He is in stable condition.

The male is scheduled to be released from the hospital Sunday and is not being held as a prisoner.

The investigation is active and ongoing. The victim's identity is not available at this time.

The third incident occurred in Tacony on the 4900 block of Friendship Street inside a private residence at 6:47 p.m. Saturday.

The male was stabbed multiple times during a domestic incident by a 49-year-old female, believed to be his wife, who remained on location.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not available at this time.

The woman was arrested and the weapon was recovered. Police believe that the motive for the slaying was spurned by an argument.

The fourth incident occurred on the 2400 block of North 29 th Street in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia at 2:17 a.m. Sunday morning.

Philadelphia Police officers responded to the area after hearing calls of a "Person with a Gun."

When they arrived, officers found an unknown male lying unresponsive in the hallway of the 3 rd floor, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency medical crews responded and the male was pronounced at 2:30 a.m.

Officers also located a second unknown male around the corner in front of a property on the 2800 block of Cumberland Street, also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The second male was taken to Temple Hospital where he was pronounced at 4:57 a.m.

Initial investigation shows that as a result of an altercation of some kind inside a property on the 2400 block of N. 29 th Street, multiple gunshots were fired.

The identities of the deceased males are not available at this time.
