More charges filed against Catawba Co. man accused of killing Good Samaritan

CATAWBA COUNTY - Catawba County Sheriffs have charged Marvin Jacob Lee with murder after investigators say he shot and killed a Good Samaritan early Friday evening.

Lee was brought back into court Tuesday after additional charges were filed against him. Lee has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle. Lee was given a $1 million bond on the new charges, he still has no bond on the murder charge.

Lee had his first court appearance Monday. The judge appointed someone to represent him. Lee's probable causing hearing was set for February 15.

The Good Samaritan has been identified as 26-year-old Jefferson Heavner from Newton, according to Catawba deputies.

The incident happened around 5:20 p.m. off Mathis Church Road in Catawba Co.

Officials say Lee was stranded on the side of the road after spinning out on the ice.

When a group of people came by to help Lee, he stepped out of the car with a pistol and shot the Good Samaritan. Lee then got back into his car where police say they found him intoxicated.

An extraction team was sent out to remove the shooter from his vehicle.
