Royal Caribbean ship arrives in Puerto Rico carrying relief supplies

Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas arrived in Puerto Rico Thursday carrying much-needed humanitarian supplies.

Royal Caribbean Cruises, the second largest cruise line operator in the world, told FOX Business it canceled its Adventure of the Seas cruises to use the ship for evacuation and humanitarian efforts.

The ship has worked with the local government to take evacuees from Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Croix as well as deliver water, food, and generators.

People from the island will also be allowed to come onto the ship for showers, dining, and other facilities.

"The ship will bring evacuees to Fort Lauderdale before returning to San Juan on October 6 to prepare for the October 7 cruise," Owen Torres, manager of Global Corporate Communication at Royal said. "As the recovery effort remains fluid and each island is working diligently to get back to normal operations, we will continue to communicate any port changes to our guests."
