Travel delayed; Amtrak suspends service as Nor'easter impacts area

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Some travel restrictions have gone into effect as a Nor'easter brings snow, rain, and damaging winds to the area Friday.

The Delaware River Port Authority has enacted an empty trailer ban on all bridges until further notice due to high winds. The ban impacts the Ben Franklin Bridge, Walt Whitman Bridge, Betsy Ross Bridge, and Commodore Barry Bridge.

PHL says more than 400 flights have been canceled. American Airlines has suspended flights at PHL for the remainder of Friday.

Additionally, SEPTA has suspended service until further notice due to deteriorating weather conditions on nine Regional Rail Lines: Chestnut Hill East, Chestnut Hill West, Cynwyd, Glenside Combined, Lansdale/Doylestown, Paoli/Thorndale, Trenton, Warminster, West Trenton. Alternative service options are avalable.

Service is still operating -- with delays of up to 60 minutes -- on four other lines: Airport, Fox Chase, Manayunk/Norristown, Wilmington/Newark.

All Amtrak service has been canceled between Washington, D.C. and Boston due to severe weather, through this evening. Amtrak Keystone Service (New York - Philadelphia - Harrisburg) is also canceled. Amtrak Northeast Regional service that would operate between Washington, D.C., to points in Virginia is also canceled.

Continuing to operate north of New York City is Amtrak Empire Service via Albany-Rensselaer and Amtrak Shuttle Service between New Haven, Conn., and Springfield, Mass. Amtrak Downeaster Service north of Boston also continues to operate.
